Our Five Tips for Managing Energy Costs

Here are our five tips for managing energy costs:

1. Schedule a home energy audit

When you have a home energy audit performed by a BPI accredited contractor like Arctic Air Conditioning, we can inspect your home and suggest recommendations on the existing components that can help you significantly decrease the amount of wasted energy in your home—and if you make these changes, you can qualify for amazing rebates of up to $5,000!* These changes can include everything from updating your home’s ductwork to installing a new furnace and more.

2. Install a programmable thermostat

A programmable thermostat is pretty simple—it allows you to create different temperature settings for different times of the day or occasions. For example, during the winter, you can set your programmable thermostat to automatically lower the temperature during the day while everyone is out of the house at work or school. That way you won’t be wasting energy heating your home while no one’s there—and you can schedule it to raise the temperature just before you return!

3. Get annual HVAC maintenance

If you want your heating and cooling equipment to run efficiently and limit energy waste, you need to have annual HVAC maintenance performed. Ideally, heating maintenance should be done at the end of the summer or beginning of fall while cooling maintenance should be done at the end of winter or beginning of spring.
